When it comes to saving money on a trip – when is the value of using a travel agent worth paying a little more than the price you find online?
Unlike online booking when you book with a travel agent, get much more service than you want with an online agency. Our job does not end when we deliver your tickets to you – it will continue with our help while you travel and when you get home. How can you ask?
Here are a few examples of actual client travel problems that the value of using a travel agency outweighs booking by itself.
We booked a family on a holiday package to Cabo. They had connecting flights and called us because their first flight left was delayed by several hours, causing them to miss their connecting flight. They called us from the airport because they were worried that the company that their transfers were through would not be at the airport to pick them up. We contacted the supplier who changed the flight times and made sure that the transfer company had the new information.
Customers from Georgia were to fly to San Juan on February 13, 2010 for a cruise departing at. 22:00 on 14 February. 8 o'clock in Feb. 13 they called us in panic. It was snow, their planes were canceled and the airline told customers that they could not fly them out until Monday.
Fortunately, they could drive to Florida, and we found flights to another airline on February 14 that would make them cruise ship with plenty of time left. We canceled their San Juan hotel, found a hotel in Orlando for her that would allow them to park their car for free for the duration of the cruise and shuttle her back and forth to the airport. Our client said that if she had booked this alone she would not have known what to do and would have been heartbreaking by not being able to travel. When she also purchased travel insurance, we started a travel delay request to be refunded for the difference in flight prices plus her gas, toll, and meals expenses to return to Orlando Airport. The forms awaited her when she came back from her cruise ship.
A few years ago, we had customers who had booked a trip and canceled their trip one month before the date they should leave for a reason that was not covered with travel insurance. The supplier was found that the cancellation could not be refunded. We interceded and were able to get a partial credit to order another trip within a year so the client did not lose all their money.
Today, a client sent us a quote for a vacation to Punta Cana, asking if we could beat that price. She costed her flight from Philadelphia, and when she returned, she chose a plane leaving Punta Cana at 7 o'clock. We asked her if she realized that in order to return home she should be at the airport at. 4:30 to make sure she would have enough time to get through the security. She had no idea that she should be at the airport so early. Not only did we beat the price, we found her direct flights for less than she was quoted via the online agency and her return flight left at. 13:05.
What other value do we give when you book with us that you do not want to come from booking online? We will send you destination information, advise you on the documentation you need to travel, provide information about optional excursions, send useful advice and last minute reminder and we will be available 24 hours if you have a problem while traveling as shown above. We will follow up with you when you return and if there was a problem to be solved with a supplier, we will involve us in trying to find a satisfactory solution.
