If you visit the United Kingdom, one thing you should try is to watch a Premier League football game. Soccer (or football, as it is sometimes called abroad) is our national sport and most towns and cities come alive on the weekend when thousands gather to support their local team.
It is unlikely these days that you get a ticket for the game itself, particularly for a team in the Premier League, so the next best option is to join the many fans who gather at your local pub to watch the game. The atmosphere is usually as intense as looking at it from the ground, but without the burden of traveling, sometimes several hours to enter.
The only way to see certain Premiership games is in a pub that has the corresponding license. Do not assume that because a pub has Sky, they also have a sports license. It is always worth checking in advance, since there is nothing worse than ordering a drink and settling in a pub just to discover that they are not showing the game. Fortunately, there are many pubs in Cambridge with Sky Sports that are licensed to show all games.
Most downtown pubs now have full Premiership subscriptions, particularly around Regent Street and King Street. A little further, you have some of the biggest pubs that have pool tables and other entertainment for after the game. The corner of Graduate on Mitchums is highly recommended as they also make food throughout the day.
The easiest way to find Cambridge pubs with Sky Sports is simply to watch out for the boards outside the pub that will announce the games and show the schedules.
